I have done a few cakes for fun for my son and little get togethers, but I have never used fondant.
I found a good recipe for MMF, and plan on doing a test cake in the next day or two. I told a friend that I would make her son's Birthday cake (the 18th or July) and she is doing the very hungry caterpillar theme.

So anyways, I am VERY new, and inexperienced. I am looking for some newbie tips. What are common mistakes that I can avoid? Any tools that are must haves? Keep in mind I live in the middle of no where and we don't even have a Walmart, icon_eek.gif so tools must be REALLY easy to find, LOL.

Any tips will be GREATLY appreciated!
TIA! icon_biggrin.gif

My best friends in the kitchen for cake decorating are my exacto knife, old fashioned ruler, sharp pizza cutter, and a huge box of different shaped cookie cutters. You can do so much with those few items! Good luck with your cake!
