I have done a few cakes for fun for my son and little get togethers, but I have never used fondant.
I found a good recipe for MMF, and plan on doing a test cake in the next day or two. I told a friend that I would make her son's Birthday cake (the 18th or July) and she is doing the very hungry caterpillar theme.
So anyways, I am VERY new, and inexperienced. I am looking for some newbie tips. What are common mistakes that I can avoid? Any tools that are must haves? Keep in mind I live in the middle of no where and we don't even have a Walmart, so tools must be REALLY easy to find, LOL.
Any tips will be GREATLY appreciated!
TIA!
My best friends in the kitchen for cake decorating are my exacto knife, old fashioned ruler, sharp pizza cutter, and a huge box of different shaped cookie cutters. You can do so much with those few items! Good luck with your cake!
