How long do gum paste figures last?

I've made some gum paste puppies for my son's 1st bday cake. I don't need them until August, but decided to make some "trial puppies" since this is my first time working with gum paste.

Well, they turned out GREAT and now I'm hoping they'll last until mid-August. Any chance they'll last?!? If so, how should I store them?
Do I let them dry completely and then store in tupperware? Should I store in an open container? Will they get dry and crack?

Any help is much appreciated!! THanksicon_smile.gif

I'd keep them in a dry cool places. I wouldn't put them in an air tight container, but rather a cake box so that they will stay dust free, but can still breath.
