I made a recipe that a cake decorator gave me. It used half Crisco and Half Sweetex. I had trouble with it today. First cake was really crumble. Icing wasstill cool from being in fridge. It was kind of stiff so I rewhipped with added milk. But it cracked on me. Never did get the sides as good as I wanted. But cake is acceptable. Should I have added more shortening. It seems a icing recipe never turns out the same way twice. Any ideas? Thanks.
If you post the recipe that you used that might help figure out your problem. I'm not understanding why your recipe has two kinds of shortening. Usually a bc recipe is all shortening (1 Brand) or all butter or half butter half shortening. It seems like it was too dry.
