I'm sorry, but I can't visualise what you're trying to do...can you give some more details please?

The cake itself is the picture and frame, or there's a picture to stand on top of the cake...? If the former, can't you just prop it up at an angle? If the latter, if you put a cake board under the frame it should support the weight. Have I completely misunderstood?

I have a shopping bag cake in my photos with a gumpaste frame...I made the gumpaste frame and a back like a real frame and let those dry, then royal icing-ed the stand to the frame and it worked great. Just like a wide piece in the back, set at an angle to the frame...just like on a real frame that you'd set on a dresser top.

If you don't have time to let one dry now, you could use a thin piece of foamcore or stiff cardboard covered in fondant to prop the frame up in the same way.

Yes Kitagrl, just like your photo in the frame. Do you have a pix of the back?

No, but it would be just like the back of the frame on the left in this photo:

I think I would make a cupcake and decorate it , either upside down or rightside up...whatever you want, and lean the frame against it. You can do alot of things with the design to make it work. Or even a cube shaped small cake...hmmm how fun. I have a couple in my pics, and tried different way...leaning was best. The frame is heavy, so leave it off while moving the cake. the cupcake or cube, whatever...you can toothpic/scewer the bottom to make secure.
have fun with it!
