I will be making a graduation cake and want to make a cap to go on top of the cake. I will be using the half ball pan for the bottom of the cap. I have read that some people cover a board for the top. The graduate really likes the NFS cookie and rolled buttercream. My question is if you think I could use a cookie for the top? If so, how thick do you think I need to make it so that it won't break and do I need a board under it for support?

Thanks!

Not sure if it would be big enough, but I've see the boards made from graham crackers (iced).

I wouldn't have thought graham crackers would have been large enough to make the top of the cap.
