Hi everyone, I need to make a graduation hat and wanted to find out from those who've made the flat part of the hat, if it's best to make it out of Rice Krispie treats covered in fondant, molding chocolate or simply take a cardboard and cover it in fondant? The cake is for July and don't know if the RKT or molding chocolate will hold up in the July heat. Don't want the ends of the flat part of the hat to start to curl downwards. Appreciate any input on this. Thanks.

My grad hat is a 8" single cake. I cut a cake board (the white ones) 10x10 and covered in fondant. Worked like a charm for me.

thank you. Just to make sure you covered the entire board in fondant....including the bottom right?

I used half of the Wilton sports ball pan for this hat. Trimmed a little off of the top so it would be flat. I also used a cake board covered in fondant-top and bottom-for the top.
