I'm making a german chocolate cake from a box mix. What should I add to it? Sour cream... extra egg... pudding(what flavor)... I want to make sure it tastes great, is moist, and rises well. Thanks!

I usually just use the Betty Crocker as is..and it is delicious! Maybe someone else can give you better advice!

For any kind of chocolate cake I add a cup of real mayonaise....it brings out the chocolate flavor...

I have a recipie for Red Velvet cake that uses a german choc. mix. Just add 1 cup sour cream and one bottle of red food coloring. Delicious.

I just did a german chocolate cake for the first time yesterday. I used whole milk instead of water, butter instead of vegetable oil, 1/4 cup white chocolate melted with the butter, and 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips melted with the butter. It was heavenly!

Also, I used the Coconut & Pecan frosting I from this site, and it was great! Sooo much better than the stuff from the jar!
