i am trying to cover some wire (that has been taped with florist tape) with fondant. It's proving to be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be...
any hint or tips?

And don't worry, this won't be for eating. The bit that will go in the cake with be in a straw...

I don't know much about covering wire with fondant or even gumpaste for that matter; I had trouble doing the same. but I have utilized copper wire and covered that in straw then painted on some candy melts (chocolate) and then molded modeling chocolate onto it. That was even tough to keep on there but not as bad as gumpaste or fondant. Also, I've noticed that on cake shows they mostly use modeling chocolate for modeling. Hopefully that helps.
