I'm planning on painting a gold stripe(band) and also some intricate details. I'm not sure how I can paint it without streaking. I'll be using airbrush colors...any tips?

I don't have an airbrush system so have only used regular cake decorating colours.
If you mix them thick enough, like real paint, you don't get a streaky look.
Good Luck!!!

Cakes47, thanks a lot for the tip but do you think it will give a stripe a nice even look?

I don't see why not. But you do need a good steady hand. You could put a
band of fondant around the cake and then paint on that to make it easier.

You could mask it off with painters tape too.

Get yourself a tiny white foam roller and roll it on--you should get a perfect coverage and you can lightly go back over it and remove any bubbles that may show up.
