Ok so I did a cake for my sons' school's 8th grade graduation (neither of them are in that class) they had tonight, a 3 tiered fondant decorated beauty if I do say so myself (my most recent upload) to serve 70ish people. I did it for their tiny budget which only covered the ingredients/supplies, which I was ok with, my time & talent were a donation plus I was hoping to get some new clients.
My oldest son & I attended the graduation which was in the church sanctuary, then a reception out in the courtyard. The cake (I had brought earlier that day) was still sitting in a back room, not on display, I basically carried it out & immediately started cutting into it. Hardly anyone got to see it =(
All that work, what a letdown. A few people at the front of the line for cake commented on it, but the rest didn't get to see it. A few people did comment that it tasted good & I think I handed out 3 business cards.
At least I put a picture on here & facebook!

Maybe the person setting up was too afraid to move it? As hard to believe as it is, some people tend to forget the cake when it comes to setting up some kind of celebration. I don't understand how, but some do.

Oh that's so disappointing, what a bummer that it didn't get the fanfare it deserved. But WOW, it's a great cake! The colour scheme, and I love how fun it is without being over the top. I'm so glad you took pictures to be able to keep showing it off anyways. icon_biggrin.gif

That cake is AWESOME!! Bummed for you that nobody got to see it on display. Hopefully it wasn't intentional. I wish more people understood the thought, time, and stress it takes for this art. I am very new to this and really appreciate how hard people work to make a cake special.

Sometimes, hon, you have to make your own fan fare...bring out the cake and WAIT. Believe me, people will notice the cake and the buzz will start. The cake deserved the notice and you deserved the praise! Cat

I was kinda thinking that too, I first slowly started taking the wired stars out hoping people would mull around. But seriously there was a line of like 50 people looking at me like "where's my cake?!" so I started cutting it up.
