How Would I Make Ice Cubes?

isomalt i know, but i am ordering that on line (not available in my city), was hopping to have something in the meantime to put on a coke cake i am making.
anyone have any neat ideas on how i could make ice cubes for a cake?

Melt some sugar and corn syrup or isolmalt and pour into plastic or silicon ice cube tray. Nancy

The first thing that came to mind was gelatin. Make 'jello jigglers' using unflavored gelatin and very little liquid- then you can cut them into cubes. Not sure how well they would stand up if the cake had to sit out a long while. I have never tried this, no idea if it would work- it's just the first thing that came to mind.
