Frozen Buttercream Transfer (Fbct) On Side Of Round Cake?

I am making a 3D Tiki cake. The plan is to stack 4 x 6" layers and do the Tiki face on the side. I am trying to avoid using fondant. I was thinking of doing FBCT for the Tiki face. The surface will obviously be rounded and I'm concerned how well this method will work.
Any ideas or recommendations?

I'm not sure how well the FBCT would work on a curved side since it's going to start of rigid. But what about using an edible image? Good luck!
