I've looked in all of my cake books & I just need a basic lemon cake recipe (but it has to be from scratch). It's for a wedding & will be covered in fondant and stacked.

I have a recipe in one of my cakes for a lemon pound cake, but I don't think I should use a pound cake for a wedding cake...?

So I just need a basic lemon cake recipe - thanks!!

I use my white cake recipe from the Cake Bible, and instead of all milk use 2/3 fresh squeezed lemon juice and 1/3 milk.

I have to use baking soda instead of baking powder or it falls. Tastes pretty durn good. Sometimes I'll add lemon liquer if I have any.

maderia sponge and victoria sponge are good simple recipes, just add some zest, and a bit of juice or sugar syrup.
