I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find an answer.

I am doing 180 cupcakes with the 1M swirl for the school I teach at's Graduation. How much icing will I need? I'm also doing an 11x15 double layer cake so need to do as much a few days ahead as possible icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks

I read, somewhere on the huge Cupcake thread, that a 1M swirl can use up to 1/4 cup of icing per cuppie. Hope this helps...

I just did 5doz 1M swirls and used not quite 2.5 quarts of icing - less than half of a batch of Sugarshack's buttercream in my 5qt mixer.

I'd figure about 8 quarts of icing should do it, so with 4 cups to a quart.... about 32 cups of icing for 180 cuppies.

I get about 4-6cupcakes per cup of icing (more if you don't have a dome on your cupcake, less if you do have a dome)

so I would concur with the 32 cups of icing being enough.

I'm going to drown in icing!!! Oh my goodness. I guess I'd better measure how many cups my recipe yields then shouldn't I lol

I use 3 cups of fat and 3# of sugar - anyone want to take a guess at how much icing I get from that icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the math help!
