That is on the back of the cocoa container have to be kept in the fridge? I have never made it before and wanted to try it this weekend - the cake would be decorated Fri/Sat and eaten on Sunday.

Does it have milk or butter if so I would keep it chilled.

There is no need to refrigerate just because it has butter or milk in it. There is a thread titled "Icing" and I suggest that you read it. Doug explains in great detail the "scientifics" as to how the sugar prevents spoilage. I use heavy cream in my icing and never refrigerate.

To the op the answer to your question is NO.

Hershey's frosting is the only chocolate frosting my family has ever used. Tastes great and we never refrigerated it.

To each their own but I never use milk in my frosting if it has to be left out. I always use water or non dairy creamer. Not a chance I am willing to take. I use whipping cream and ganache in my chocolate butter cream which I also keep chilled.

It doesn't need refrigerated.

There's enough sugar to "cook" the milk in the frosting. No refridgeration needed!
