Is there any "special" recipe for which type of cake to use when carving is needed?

My daughter has requested a camera for bd cake & I have seen several great ones in the gallery but have never tried it before. She loves carrot or chocolate but I would think those are to "crumbly" to try.

Any thoughts/help greatly appreciated from this newbie!

I like the WASC recipe for carving and you can make that in almost any flavor. But you can use any denser cake recipe.

LOL, I'm assuming you meant for carving a cake, not craving cake (most recipes will work for me when I'm craving cake! icon_lol.gif ) Here's another possibility:

I use the Durable 3-D Wedding Cake recipe from this site. It's in the "most saved" recipes.

Thanks for the suggestions & yes I did mean carving icon_redface.gif I really need to be fully awake when I post don't I? I'll give those recipes a try & see if I have ANY talent to speak of (luckily, my kids aren't that picky & I have a month to practice)!
