what effect does corn syrup have when you put less or more?
I find that more corn syrup will give it a little more shiny appearance (less matte, really). Sometimes I want that and sometimes I don't. Also, the more corn syrup it has, the drying time is slightly longer - not too much, though. Regardless of how much corn syrup I have used- from 0 to 1/2 the liquid - I always let my cookies dry for 24 hours before packaging (even though they are usually perfectly dry by 18 hours).
Me too. I always let the cookies sit overnight before even thinking of packaging or wrapping to freeze.
Thanks, i going to have to try adding corn syrup to RI to see how that works.
Put corn syrup in what? Glace or Royal icing?
I add corn syrup to my RI (a modified version of Antonia74's recipe).
The glace recipe already has a good amount of corn syrup in it (equal amounts as the other liquid).

Got it! Thank you!
June's more than half over -- I want to see more cookies! Nobody's posted any new lazy days of summer cookies in over a week now.
You read my mind, JGMB. I was just thinking the same thing. Where are all the creative souls? I know you're out there and we're all here just dying to be wowed. Time's slipping away!
Wonderful! And I LOVE the pail with the bottle opener!
Thanks !
I found the bucket at "Homesense" like 3-4 days before the event.. I was soooo happy when I bought it
Oh, yeah, that's what I'm talking about, verono! Great cookies, and your display idea is terrific!!!
Great cookies, Verono! I don't like the taste of beer, but I'd gladly have a 6-pack of your cookies!!
Great cookies, verono! And what a super clever and cute way to display them! With luck, I'll be posting a photo later tonight.
Thanks all !
I had some martinis to go with it but I don't have a nice picture of it.. :/
Wow, verono, those are amazing....so real looking that they don't even look like cookies!
When I think of summer, I think of our family vacations at my parent's lake house. Which meant going into town and having ice cream sundaes at the old-fashioned soda fountain. I've had this design for over a year, and can't even remember where I first saw it. Clip art, maybe? Anyway, it fits this theme very well!
Those are absolutely amazing, Gemini!! I knew they would be, and they were well worth the wait!
Marianna46 those are outstanding! So creative!
Verono, I love your bottles! They are perfect!
GeminiRJ, I admire all your designs! I can add these sundaes to the list!
(okay, is anyone else not getting notices?)
Does anyone know what next month's theme is?
My cookie dough is mixed, and it'd be nice to cut out both months at the same time.
(I only make cookies once a month - diet, don't ya know.)

I wonder... if when we're actively watching/responding to the thread and we refresh it to get the new responses instead of clicking on the notice in our email, if that somehow halts further notices...'cause it says something in the email -
no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic -
that makes me think this might have something to do with it.
Reckon?
Fantastic, eyeball-popping cookies, GeminiRJ! I went to your gallery the other day and spent hours looking at your amazing things -- added several of them to my favorites, too! What are you - and this monthly cookie club - doing to me!?! I never used to look at cookies, much less make any, and now I'm hooked!!!

I know what next month is. I'm pretty sure anyways.
You're all way too nice! I appreciate the nice comments, especially since I underestimated...again...how long it would take to decorate the cookies. But my sons really liked these, so that helped temper the frustration over my slowness.
