I have a request for a graduation cake for someone who just graduated college with an elementary education teaching degree, and she loves ice hockey (Washington Capitals).

Any ideas how to tie those two themes together in a 1 or 2 tier cake?

How about doing a person in a graduation gown sitting/playing on a big hockey puck. There would be a lot of black in it, so maybe she could be sitting down on the Washington Capitals logo. Or maybe you could add some little kids, to add color and tie in with the elementary aged kids she would be teaching.
