i need a really good buttercream frosting for my cupcakes. everytime i make frosting it comes out too soft and messy. i want a really thick stiff frosting that taste great and can be used to decorate cupcakes and stay put..lol andy help would be great thanks

If your icing is too loose, add more sugar, or use less liquid to start with HTH

You've probably iced your cupcakes by now, but i do a very simple buttercream.
250g butter (at room temp)
3 cups icing sugar
4 tbs milk
beat butter till very light and fluffy, add icing sugar and then milk if required, flavour with vanilla.
If mixture is too soft add more icing sugar.
