Do you use anything to attach real ribbon around the base of the cake?

I just use frosting as a "glue".

Frosting or royal icing. Just make sure your ribbon is backed with wax paper or something like it or not only will the 'glue' show through, the frosting on the cake will bleed into your ribbon (more for butter cream than fondant).

Is contact paper "food safe"? I use wax paper between the ribbon and the cake.

Glad you said something. I read it from another site online. I will start using wax paper. Thanks.

some one on cc gave me this great info.. use white chocolate chips to hold the end of the ribbon together. you don't need pins or glue.. that's all I use now, great tip.. hope that helps icon_wink.gif
