Good Morning All icon_biggrin.gif ,

Just wanted a bit of advice. A close friend would like for me to make a graduation cake for their child who is in boarding school. The cake will have to travel from NJ to New Hampshire. What is the best prep/assembly method for keeping this cake in tact? She wants a sheet cake.

All suggestions are appreciated in advance.

Thank You

I have taken graduation cakes from Wisconsin to Kansas three times. Two were stacked cakes and one was a sheet cake. For all of them, I did all the decorating I could at home, boxed them and froze them. I took them straight from the freezer to the car and let them thaw as we traveled. I had very minimal touch-ups to do when we got there.

For the stacked cake, I stacked the bottom two tiers and put the top tier on once we arrived.
