I'm going to be working with Gumpaste for the first time. I'm using the Wilton recipe mixing in the Gum Tex powder, etc. A week ago, I mixed it up to the point where you are supposed to leave it overnight. Then you are supposed to mix in the rest of the PS right when you use it.

Well, my question is how long will the first mixture last (before mixing in the final PS)? I had intended on making some flowers last week (for a cake for next month). But I got caught up testing cake recipes.

Can I still use this mix for my gumpaste or should I start over? This is going to be my first attempt and I don't want to cause myself any more aggravation than needed icon_smile.gif

If you stored it right and the paste is still moist, go ahead and add the PS in and go from there. The mixture may not hold the amt of suger in the recipe without starting to crumble, so start out with a small amt , then let sit for awhile, well wrapped, (squish around and see if still pliable) to see if you need more.
