I am trying to make gum paste roses for a cake sunday and I am having issues! I made my gum paste and after I color it it just crumbles. Advice please! Anyone have a recipe I can use? Am I needing it too much? Is it my recipe? What? Thank you!
I've never made gum paste. I just buy the pre-made Wilton gum paste and it works great. Use Crisco when working with it.
First, take a DEEP breath... it WILL be ok.
Now, tell us what your recipe is...
My favourite recipe is below... I love it and the lemon juice covers up the icky smell of Gum Trag.
1 tablespoon Gum-tex, tragacanth gum or Magic Gum
1 heaping tablespoon glucose
3 tablespoons warm water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 pound powdered sugar
Now, I can start to use this right away - but the instructions say to let it rest overnight.
HTH!
I would just run to a craft store and get some wilton gumpaste! Those roses need time to dry in stages, it's crunch time!
This is the recipe I used i got it off here. Am I having issues because it doesnt have gum in it?
1 Lb Powdered Sugar
1 Packet Knox Gelatin
2 TBS of Lemon juice
3 TBS of Water
1 Tsp of Glucose
Those roses are gorgeous!!! Well done. Cake is pretty too - but those roses put Mother Nature to shame!
