I've been looking at these beautiful cake plateaus for a wedding cake I am going to do ( my first one).

But I am wondering how do I go about using it? Do I put the tiers on cake rounds or separators and then assemble on top of the plateau at the reception hall?

Also, do you put a litte frosting under it like you would on a normal cake board to hold it in place?

Any helpful info you have regarding the use of these pretty displays is appreciated. Thanks.

I would do it this way: plateau, duct tape, larger cake drum, duct tape, cake board same size as bottom tier with cake on it. I would assemble the bottom tier on the larger cake drum and put that on the plateau, then stack the rest of the cake. I have one to do this weekend and that is what i plan to do.

I place the cake which has been assembled on its' base on top of the plateau.
