I am making a graduation cap cake. I will be using fondant covered cardboard. Will the fondant stick on it's on or will I have to use buttercream to help it stick? Thanks!

Put piping gel in a thin layer on the cardboard top and sides and then your fondant will stick.

You should use something----buttercream, piping gel, crisco, a bit of water.
