I cannot seem to get to work!! I have a pretty simple logo I'd like to save as SVG for SCAL, but I'm not getting anywhere with this! I tried in Illustrator and Inkscape....neither of which I'm very proficient in! I've also tried tracing it with scal, but not getting a clean trace.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!!

I'm not sure this is that simple a logo - but - have you tried scanning it and just saving it as a bitmap (.bmp) then importing it directly into SCAL? SCAL version 2 will import .bmp files without converting them to .svg first. I've had better luck with that. Bitmap files can be edited in Microsoft Paint or GIMP or lots of photo/drawing programs - all of which I find easier to use than Inkscape.
