Does Crisco go bad? I got a huge tub. Now I dont know if I should dump it or use it.

Does it expire?

There should be an expration date on the bottom of the can (I just looked at mine). Otherwise, it's one year from the date you opened it.

I go by the expiration date too, but as with many pantry products that can expire, you can use your judgement. It will taste a little "off" (technical term: rancid, but that sounds so extreme) if it's no good. You can't tell just by tasting it of course because Crisco tastes nasty off the spoon! icon_eek.gif! But you can mix a teeny bit together with some PS...i.e. like the world's smallest icing batch... and see how it tastes if you're concerned. I can usually smell the spoiled oils before even needing to taste it; normal Crisco has no real scent.
