Hi Sweetcakes,

Sue Tickle made the cake and she made the ring for the cake out of gumpaste and let it dry. In the top of the ring she made a hole so that the diamond could placed on the gumpaste band and act as a bridge supporting the diamond.

Hope This Helps,

Thanks Dominic.
I have found a glass diamond to use this time around but would like to make it next time out of sugar. I will have to look through your directions to see how to make a mold, guessing it would be similar to making the bottle where the mold would have to be split down the middle in order to get it truly 3d. Dont you think?

Sweetcakes - If you subscribe to CakeCentral magazine, there is a multi-page, complete tutorial on how to make a diamond mold. It is in the April/May - Wedding Cake Issue.
