I made this recipe for the first time this week, and it's a wonderful cake! Yummers! I'm wondering if anyone has converted this over to a chocolate cake recipe, and if so, are you willing to share the recipe?

I use 2 boxes of chocolate mix and 6 whole eggs rather than 8 egg whites.

I substitute 3 whole eggs for the 4 egg whites per mix. I also add about 1/4 cup cocoa per mix and replace all the water with brewed coffee. I omit the almond.

Also, I have made amazing chocolate cake by Cakepro on this site. It is really delicious. It is a tweaked wasc. She also has an amazing lemon recipe. Fixing to try that one this week. The recipe looks like it is amazing. She has several other ones that she has tweaked also. hth Lots of people tweak the original wasc by Kakeladi, Hers is very good also. So just try some of the recipes to decide which one you like the best.

You can use any flavor of cake mix!

Thanks everyone. I knew I could substitute cake mix flavors, but I also knew that wouldn't be chocolately enough. I was wondering how to add additional cocoa vs flour.

The way I do is to leave out maybe 1/8 of a cup of flour & put that much powder cocoa in and it is exactly right!
I do this all time with DH cake mix!
