I have graduations coming up and was wondering if anyone has just froze the cupcakes in the bakery box frosted and decorated with sprinkles? I was just thinking if would be so easy if I could start monday and then just put them in the deep freeze just for a few days till the day before graduation.
Do the liners get soggy?
I have done it before with no problem with buttercream icing online - not sprinkles. I think they may cause a problem when thawing and the condensation from the sprinkles may discolor the buttercream! I love cupcakes that have been frozen - they seem so much more moist to me!
I have the plastic dozen cupcake boxes. I made 11 dozen on Wednesday and froze them iced until Saturday morning and they were perfect. Sprinkles would melt when the thawed from the condensation. I would just add them after defrosting.
I do freeze them, but wrap the whole box in plastic wrap so air tight...works just fine!
