I have a cake request for Bob the Builder. I don't have much experience in making gumpaste figurines but figured he looked fairly easy to make, but I'm not quite sure what steps to do first. I know his pants are overalls so how do you go about making it look like his overalls are over his shirt without having seams? Would you make the overalls and stop at the waist, make the sure and then just put a flap of denim over the front of the shirt? Any hints/tricks would be much appreciated!

Hi, first I would do the trousers with the shoes. Then using yellow paste make the upper body. First make the body and sttach it to the trousers. YOu might have to insert a dry speghetti throught the body to the trousers. Then you attach the sleeaves (made by yellow paste). Then the head. Once you have placed it on the cake, using red paste colour mixed with some vodka, do the squares on the shirt. Here is a picture for you to see.
