Wood Grain For A Toy Story Cake

hello,

i need to make a toy story cake and i'm going to be the famous bed in andy's room. now the wood grain floor isn't necessary but i love the way it looks... so my question is... is it done in fondant? i've never covered a board in fondant?? do i just cut it to size then put some buttercream and lay it on top? what about the edges?

for the wood grain do i start out with brown fondant? please help... is there any way to paint it on the cake board or some kind of paper? probably not i guess?

Hi Sara, it looks like they have used a proper wooden board on the photo you have attached. Here is a link that I found on a similar post,

Also I have seen impression mats with the woodgrain patern.
