What about using a pattern transfer technique, using piping gel? You would draw your picture, place waxed paper over your drawing, outline the pattern with piping gel, turn the traced pattern(piping gel towards cake) over onto your iced cake, lightly rub the tracing lines with a brush - lift the wzxed paper off and you should have an outline of your picture on the iced cake. You can then fill it in with colored icing. Be careful not to rub too hard or the piping gel will smudge. The other thing I want to mention is that you need to make a reverse pattern if you want your picture to be facing a certain direction. Hope this helps.

You could do the edible image of your drawing or a FBCT.
