Well, it finally happened, my first disaster and for my SIL's Bridal shower cake this past weekend. I was inspired by a cake design from The Pink Cake Box. Because the base and height of the cake were too big, the cake could not fit in the fridge and did not have a chance to harden and stick together. It needed to be transported from NY to Philly and just as we crossed the bridge is when it happened. The entire bottom half or skirt portion of the cake slid right off taking all the flowers and embroidered bows with it!!! It was supposed to be a surprise for my SIL but I had to call her and send her out to get 5 lbs. of Wilton fondant which I hate and make quick repairs at her house before taking it to the restaurant and storing it in their walk-in. Here are the before & after pics. Truthfully, I didn't have the heart to photograph it with her skirt down and buttercream and crushed roses everywhere.

I agree with Jammjenks, I think I like the redone skirt a bit more. Quite lovely and inspirational!
Oh, my...what a project! It's just spectacular!
I agree with jammjenks and MomMiller, I like the second skirt.
Would love to know how you constructed/transported this. If it's been discussed in another thread, I missed it.
Again great save!
