Manage To Screw Up Piping Gel So Badly?

Okay I did the 4 knox, 4 water and 4 cups karo.

I cooked on low heat, I set it to the side to cool and now its the consistancy of karo, with a white filmy layer on top....

what am I doing wrong?? the first one was thick as could be, and kinda scortched, so I tossed it, this one is runny and has a white film that will NOT mix in.

I HAVE to have piping gel, I"m doing a pond on a cake. I need the water effect, and walmart quit carrying it... AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!

okay drama fest over...
please help me...
