I want to make a cake for a friend but she has to have gluten free. I know she likes chocolate... can I add cocoa powder to a yellow gluten free mix to make it chocolate cake?

Her birthday is tomorrow and I really want to surprise her.

Hi Lynne, you can do, but GF cakes are notorious for being dry, so you will need to add additional liquid to compensate for the addition of another dry ingredient.

HI Lynn: I make gluten free all the time for my daughter. I would add 8 oz of melted dark chocolate..plus 4 oz of chocolate powder...and some more liquid ( milk /water or sour cream) and an extra egg...makes a lovely cake that everyone can enjoy!
