What kind of color did you use?

I'm stumped. I thought maybe it was the kind of color that you used but gel/paste colors should be fine unless maybe they're expired?

I know recently I opened up a jar of gel color and it was VERY stiff. almost difficult to get any on a toothpick. I could see if that would affect the frosting.

Could you share the recipe you used? That would help us a lot.
