I made a cake for my friend's birthday. I colored the icing a bright teal and it looked GREAT...until we got it to the party icon_sad.gif I noticed on the top corner there was a discolored spot that was darker than the rest icon_confused.gif It wasn't noticeable to anyone else...I mean, they thought it looked great...but it bothered me. How do I avoid this?!?!

Maybe try mixing the color a little earlier and letting it set for a bit. Then stir it back up and use. HTH!!

Makes perfect sense! I did do this one in a hurry...mixed the icing, colored it and iced the cake right away.

PS...my eye caught your birthday as I read the reply. We share a birthday!

If it was darker than the other parts then it may have been the icing color didn't get mixed in evenly all the way through out.
