I'm doing the Wilton Birthday Hugs from Mickey from the 2006 Yearbook, which uses some pieces from the tall tier cake stand to help hold up his head. My question is this - it seems like the cake corer is not available anymore. What's the easiest way to make a hole in the center of the cake for the post?

I use a circle cookie cutter in the diameter that I need and just push it through the cake.
