I use 2oz of melted semi-sweet chocolate chips per cup of buttercream.

I'll use about a bag of chocolate chips per recipe of icing. I've also used candy melts as well.

I make Indydebi's buttercream and I add about a half of a 12 oz. bag of melted chocolate chips to make chocolate icing. I do have to add a little more milk when I add chocolate. I just add a tiny bit at a time until I get the right consistency.

Just wanted to add that it should be cooled (but still pourable) before adding to your buttercream thumbs_up.gif
