I love the look of quilted buttercream and attempted if for the first time this weekend. I was not very successful. I tried a ruler, triangle used by engineers for drawing and free handing with my fondant cutter to make the impression.

How do you determine the spacing and angles to get nice clean diamond quilted look? Would a diamond cutter work?

All suggestions are appreciated.

I think most people use an impression mat. You just let your BC get nice and crusted over, then press the impression mat onto the cake.
