Hi everyone, wondering what ingredients I can add to Betty Crocker cake box mixes to add more flavor and make the cake more dense. I have heard adding an extra egg will help, is this true? Any other tips??? Thanks a ton!!!! icon_smile.gif

Check out the most saved recipes on this site. There is a recipe for a cake for 3-D. It adds instant pudding mix and sour cream. The cake is dense but so moist and yummy. The wasc recipe is also good!

I don't use Betty Crocker, but it's basically the same directions as Duncan Hines.

This is what I add to my mixes to make a denser cake:

1 small box of instant pudding mix - use a complimenting flavor to your cake
1 additional egg
Make the oil 1/2 cup

Bake as you normally would.

Search the recipe forum for WASC and you'll find an extender recipe using box mixes that creates a very sturdy result.

I'm sure if you google for recipes that include cream cheese in them, you'll find several--usually pound cakes.
