So today I participated in the Live Cake Challenge hosted by Wake Tech Community College at the Raleigh Convention Center. The theme was childhood memories. I took first prize. This was my first cake competition and I am really pleased with how well things went.

Congratulations! I love your cakes, especially the carousel and umbrella! Were you allowed to create the figures before the competition?

Since the competition was only 2 hours you were allowed to make the decorations in advance and also cover the cake board. You could also fill your tiers. At the competition I had to ice and cover with fondant. Then I airbrushed my tiers and then stacked them. Then I rolled fondant and cut pieces to be the hills. Then we placed all the decorations. I finished about 10 minutes before time was up. I was really happy with how it turned out. The judges really like the Halloween characters and the carousel. I just went in to have fun and complete my cake as best as I could.
