Hi,

I am wondering if anyone knows of a great cream cheese buttercream icing recipe for decorating. I would prefer that it didn't have to be refrigerated if possible. Thanks so much for any help!

can't help you with the non-refridgeration, but the recipe I use is:

8 oz cream cheese, cold
5 tbsp butter, softened
4 cups 10x sugar
Vanilla to taste

beat the cream cheese and butter in a mixer until just blended. Add the vanilla, mix for a few seconds, then add the confectioners sugar until spreadable/pipeable. the more you mix it, the runnier it will get!

Actually, I'm not sure if this needs to be refridgerated, I just pop it in the fridge after I'm done using it anyway, but it might be able to be kept out, I dont know.

I have always assumed that since its a dairy product it would need to be refrigerated, but I'm not absolutely positive on that assumption.

My recipe is rather soft, so I have to refrigerate it. It's delicious but not good for warmer situations.

1 stick butter
1 (2lb) bag powdered sugar
8oz cream cheese
Vanilla to taste
I even added a little meringue powder to stiffen it last time I made it, it did help! But I still refrigerated it.
