Hello! I am fairly new to the whole tiered cake making think. I have made two cakes before, they were round, and I used carboard cake boards in between the stacked layers. I am going to be making a four tiered square wedding cake for my friend. I am thinking about using plastic cake plates/boards in between the layers (they will be stacked right on each other). I would love to hear people's opinions on which they prefer to use. I was wondering if the plastic plates would add too much weight to the cake or if they would actually be sturdier since each of the four tiers will have three cake layers. I will be using the bubble tea straws for support. Also, anyone know where I could get square plastic boards? I have only found round. Thank you all so much! I am very new at this.

Check out SPS. After making only one cake with dowels I tried SPS and will NEVER EVER go back! They make square in all sizes, I actually just got done ordering some more myself.
