Can I use salted butter for BC icing? What difference will it make to the texture, taste of the BC icing. I mistankenly bought salted butter instead of unsalted from Costco (large quantity) and cant return it because I already started using it. I would really appreciate your response.
Yes, salted butter is all I use, hit helps bring out the butter flavor
You can add salt into your buttercream recipe, I do it all the time. BUT I don't know the amount of salt in butter. I would say if you have already started making a batch taste it and see.
My BC recipe calls for a small amount of salt and unsalted butter. I have used salted butter and not added any salt and can't tell a difference. You should be fine.
I always use salted butter in buttercreams, and cake recipes too. I have never been able to tell a difference. I am too lazy buy both kinds of butter!
