How To Place Monogram Toppers On Cake??

Hello everyone!!

I have some monogram cake toppers....I do not know if they are safe to insert into the cake just like that or do I need to place them into something. And if they are inserted into the cake do they stand up on its on or does the weight of the monogram need to be supported with something? These are the ones I bought:

I just noticed that. It's basically a number pick that goes on top of the cake. It's 2 metal picks for the number 65
