I'm going to be doing one of these in about a month. It has to travel two hours on lovely Iowa roads so I want to make sure it is well supported. I see that there is no 4" SPS (which I LOVE) so, how should I go about supporting the top tier? The tiers will both be 4" tall.

Thanks!

One Wilton size dowel through the center down into your bottom board will hold it in place.

I use a 4" wilton plate and just hot glue the plastic pilllars/dowels into the plate and use it like SPS plates

Yes the dowel would work but you also need either dowels or some type of straw beneath the 4 inch cake to support the weight.

KHalstead -

Would you mind sharing where you get your 4" wilton plates? The smallest I can seem to find is 6". Maybe I'm confused?! (Been known to happen a time or three!) icon_biggrin.gif

You can also find them direct from wilton or on ebay. Unfortunately I don't have a good supply store in my area so I always have to find stuff online.

yeah, I looked online and couldn't find them either........I wonder if it's something they aren't making anymore??? Why would they stop making them?? I know they're wilton plates, it has wilton right on the bottom. I haven't needed to get any for probably 3 months or so.....but I bought them at A.C. Moore........I'm wondering if it's discontinued now?? that would really stink!!!
