how do you place diamond shaped fondant cutouts evenly on a cake?
I usually start at the top of the tier and place the first diamond. If you pinch the diamond in the center and the top rests on the flat part of the cake and the bottom goes down the side, that gives you a straight line for visual. Then add diamonds below that until you reach your cake board. If you don't crimp and you use the full view of the diamond make sure you place them level with each other even if they don't all reach the top of the cake exactly. A border around the top will disguise any small problem with an unlevel cake. The important thing is to line them up so they look level even if the cake is a little off. The diamonds are the focal point. Hope that makes sense.
