Wondering if someone can help me out. Having my son's 2nd Birthday and I am making the Wilton ELMO face cake pan, but I am unsure what kind of cake/icing to make. I am having a family/kid party so this is why I am concerned. I want the cake to taste good and not just another super sweet kiddy cake. I originally though about making elmo a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, but now I am not sure. Obviously I have to color my icing and it needs to be stiff enough to do a lot of piping. HELP! any ideas would be much appreciated.

for my daughters 1st b-day I made a Elmo face cake also. I made the cake a confetti cake and the icing I didnt pipe~(this was before I became obsessed with caking~ I used BC icing out of the tub and colored it red.I didnt make the stars for the filling in I actually used the spatula and kind of touched it to make it look like it was fuzzy,that was so much faster then using the star tip for his fur HTH)
